Just in case anyone is interested, here is a brief description of myself and my family.

Me - I was born in Surrey on the outskirts of London in 1947 and, after leaving Shoreditch Teacher Training College in 1969, married and moved to Suffolk to teach technical drawing, woodwork and metalwork. I still work in the same school and have seen many changes over the years.

I first became interested in computers in the mid-1980s and when the school acquired a network of 14 Research Machines PC186s (yes 1 86s!), I was put in charge of running it and teaching Computer Awareness. The server had one 20 megabyte hardrive and each PC had half a megabyte of RAM and no drives at all - how times have changed - I think it had Windows 1.0 as well!

In 1998, after 29 years, I gave up teaching and took on the position of General Support Officer. My main jobs was as Examinations Officer and Network Manager.

Since we opened our Sixth Form in September 2001, we have expanded our network to about 360 PCs, mostly by Tiny & Viglen. The examination work and the network have now become so much that someone else has had to take over the network.

Our internet access has now become 2mgb broadband after struggling along on 256k ISDN.

If you're wondering where the name Arkimediz comes from, I started using Archimedes as a handle back in 1981 when CB radio became legal - I couldn't think of anything better! I later changed to the different spelling and used it on a few occasions in chat rooms where people seemed to like it and find it easy to remember.

My interests revolve around the things included in this website. We use our caravan quite a bit. We attend a lot of rallies which is much more fun than it sounds! We even went to Luxembourg for two weeks with 30 other caravans. My latest hobby is collecting Bad Taste Bears.

My Family - My wife is a Teaching Support Assistant at the local primary school and we have three children all of whom have inherited my interest in computers.

Our elder son (aged 31) is into disco sound and lighting equipment (supplying, setting up and repairing) and is also a DJ - he doesn't regard it as work and is very happy doing it and he actually gets paid as well. He and his wife have a daughter who was born in December 2000 and a son born July 2003

Our younger son (aged 28) worked in Holland for three and a half years for a management consultancy company where he set up computer systems and sorted out the problems. He has now returned to the UK to live but it took him 6 months to find a job. He has now married and gained a 6 year old daughter into the bargain.

Our youngest child is our daughter (aged 25). She lives with her fiance and has a cleaning job, but spends much of her spare time on the computer, mostly creating websites.
